IMS Project

In an unprecedented project, which took place between January and February 2019, Transdata completed the storage, transportation, vertical lifting of the work of art Echo, by the American artist Richard Serra.

The artwork consists of two steel plates approximately 77 ton and over 18 meters high each. This project specifically enables Richard Serra's first work, which is permanently open to the public in Latin America at Instituto Moreira Sales in São Paulo. The transport was carried out through by self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) until Instituto Moreira Sales.

In this route, in order to reduce the social impact, covering a stretch of more than 15 km, points of extreme movement in São Paulo were also paralyzed to also reduce these impacts. To carry out this epic project, the most high-tech equipment was used to what is meant in engineering in Brazil. According to the artist himself, handling the sculptures required a lot of knowledge and sophistication in transport to succeed and get the project completed.

Taking Echo's weight into account, the artist also stated that without an accurate study, it wouldn't be possible to transport the work through São Paulo’s roads. In addition, this memorable project counted on the specialized Transdata’s team to guarantee the transport and vertical lifting of the sculpture, which despite being gigantic, involved a lot of innovation due to its complexity and fragility.
